Why is aluminum the framing material of choice in both new construction and replacement doors for college and university buildings?
Aluminum has long been favoured for sheet metal, aircraft and many automotive applications. Its relative strength, durability, repairability and flexibility of design make it ideal for campus building doors, French Doors, Residential Doors and Commercial (entrance doors) i.e shop fronts.
It's main advantages being that it is very strong, slim frames, available in many different colours and virtually maintenance free. Windows manufactured with aluminum are more resistant to warping, twisting or sticking when subjected to the elements. Additionally aluminum neither absorbs water, rots or rusts.
Maximum glazing area without bulky frames
Aluminum is a good choice for commercial locations and any situation where strength is a major issue.
Aluminum windows can be fitted as 'direct fix' - i.e. directly against the brickwork or alternatively (and more often) into a hardwood sub-frame.
